How to make delicious Shawarma in Pita bread.


Difficulty: Easy

What you are going to need.


  • Cumin (2 tsp)
  • Turmeric (2 tsp)
  • Cinnamon (1 tsp)
  • Ground black pepper (2 tsp)
  • Cayenne Pepper (1 tsp)
  • Paprika powder (2 tsp)
  • Crushed Clove (1 tsp)
  • Coriander powder (2 tsp)
  • Garlic powder (2 tsp)
  • Ginger powder (2 tsp)
  • Sea salt (1 tsp)
  • Pita bread
  • Spring onion
  • Small onion
  • Cucumber
  • Iceberg Lettuce
  • Fresh Coriander
  • Garlic Sauce 
  • 500g Chicken Breast or meat of your choice.
Step 1. 

Mix the Cumin, Turmeric, Cinnamon, Ground black pepper, Cayenne pepper, Paprika powder, Crushed clove, Coriander powder, Garlic powder, Ginger powder, Sea Salt into a bowl and mix in Vegetable oil (1 ½ tbs) to create the Marinade.

Step 2.

Cut the chicken breasts into small strips, add to the mixing bowl and make sure the chicken is evenly coated in the Shawarma marinade. Whilst the chicken is sitting in the marinade slice and dice your cucumber and onion into small squares and chop your spring onion and lettuce.

Step 3.

Throw your chicken into the frying pan on high heat for around 2-3 minutes. Keep moving the meat around so it does not burn then lower to a medium heat and cook until its no longer pink inside.

Heat up your Pita bread, I just put them in the toaster and slice them open to form a pocket. Squirt some garlic sauce in the bottom with a sprinkle of onion and cucumber then pile in your chicken Shawarma.

Finish off by adding your lettuce, spring onion, coriander and more Garlic sauce.. Lovely!

How to make Pepper burgers, perfect for the BBQ or Oven.


Difficulty: Easy

What you are going to need.


  • Pepper (any colour I used green)
  • Brown Sugar (2tbs)
  • Garlic Salt (1tbs)
  • Paprika powder (1tbs)
  • Ground black pepper (1tbs)
  • Cayenne Pepper (1tbs)
  • Chilli Powder (1tbs)
  • Salt (1tbs)
  • Minced Beef (500g)
Once again any brand of the following ingredients will work perfectly. No need to shell out on expensive brands. I always buy the cheapest ingredients possible apart from with meat, never buy smart price meat.


Step 1




 Mix the Brown sugar, Garlic salt, Paprika powder, Ground black pepper, Cayenne Pepper, Chilli Powder and Salt into a small bowl.








Step 2



Place the minced beef into a mixing bowl and add the mixture we made into the beef gently. I usually use 2 - 3 tbs of the mixture but continue to add it slowly until the meat is coloured throughout. Cut your pepper in half and scoop out the seeds. Cut half of the pepper into small squares and add them to your mix.






Step 3

Make small balls of the mix and use a burger press or your hands to make your burgers, If your ball of mince does not have enough peppers in it just press some into the ball before pressing them. Once done they are ready for you to enjoy on your BBQ or home oven, They are also great to freeze for an easy meal another day.

How to make easy tasty Bread.

Difficulty: Easy

Making bread is extremely easy and there is absolutely no need to use a bread maker. The most important ingredient to making good bread is the flour, the higher the gluten the better your bread is going to turn out. I prefer to use Allison flour. Though Tesco's own brand will also do the trick.

What you are going to need.

  • Bread flour (500g)
  • Olive Oil (3 tbsp)
  • Salt (1 tbsp)
  • Dried yeast (7g) 
  • Water (300ml)

Any super market brand of all these ingredients is fine. Though like
I said the flour is important. You can usually pick up Allison's flour for £1 when its on special offer which is almost always in at least one super market. Failing that Tesco's own is probably second best.



Step 1




Place the Bread flour (500g), Sachet of dried yeast (7g) and Salt (1 tbsp) into a mixing bowl and mix the ingredients together well. Then make a well in the middle with your hand and place the olive oil in the centre (3 tbsp) followed by lukewarm water (300ml) then mix together well with your hand until it forms a dough.






Step 2  



Knead the doe well for a couple of minutes on a lightly floured surface until it forms a nice smooth ball, if the dough seems a bit too dry add 1tsp of water or too sticky at a slight sprinkle of flour. You want it not so sticky but not  too dry either. If its too dry it won't raise so well. Once you are happy with your ball of dough place in a clean bowl and cover it over with cling film and leave the yeast to do its work for 1 hour. It's best if you leave it in a warm light area, near the window for example with the sun on it. Though its not crucial it just helps.



Step 3 

After you have let your bread dough raise for 1 hour take it out of the mixing bowl and make it into a nice ball again (or place it into a bread tin if you like) and place it on a NON-STICK tray (this is important) and leave it to raise for another 1 hour. I put the bowl upside down over the dough so it stays some-what round whilst it's growing. 

After leaving it for 1 hour slice the top of your loaf in 3 places with a sharp knife and lightly flour the top. Now it's finally time to cook your bread. Put it in the oven on the middle shelf ( Fan 180, Electric 200, Gas 5 ) until your bread is golden brown. When you think its done leave it a little longer just to make sure its cooked through out. (especially if your using a bread tin). To make sure your bread is cooked tap the top and bottom, it should sound hollow.. leave it on a a wire rack or on an oven shelf to cool.

Homemade Mc Donalds Mc Muffin

How to make a homemade Mc Muffin in a few simple steps.

Difficulty: Easy

What you are going to need.

  •  Minced pork (500g)
  •  White traditional muffins 
  •  Salted Butter
  •  Sage (grounded 1 tsp)
  •  Black pepper (grounded 1 tsp)
  •  Salt (1 tsp)
  •  Sugar (1 tsp)
  •  Cheese Slices
  •  Eggs

All these ingredients can be found in most super market stores. Any super market equivalent of any of these ingredients will work just as well.


Step 1

Empty the minced meat into a mixing bowl and prepare  1 tsp Sage, 1 tsp Salt, 1 tsp Sugar and 1 tsp Black pepper. If you are using sage that has larger granules like myself you may need to grind them down a bit first, either with a pestle and mortar or if you don't own one of them just bash it with a rolling pin.  

Mix in each tsp one at a time gently sprinkling over the top of the minced meat then mixing it in.. repeat this process until you feel that the contents of the spoon is mixed throughout. 

Repeat this process for the Salt, Pepper, Sugar and Sage. 


Step 2

Prepare a burger press with a burger separator, or alternately you can use non stick paper to line the bottom (other wise it might fall apart when you try to remove it!)  Once lined make a ball of pork minced with your hand and play it in the centre of the burger press. 

Press your minced meat into a burger shape and put it on an oven tray ready for cooking, repeat this until you have used all the minced meat. ( freeze the left over Mc sausages)

If you don't have a burger press, form a ball and press down on it with a flat even object.
  
Step 3

Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees for a fan oven, 200 for an electric oven or gas mark 6. 

Whilst the oven is heating up, crack your desired amount of eggs into a baking try as shown, you can usually pick these up in a bargain store for around £1 if you don't have one or you can poach the egg.


Put the sausages and the eggs together into the oven, flip the sausages occasionally until they are cooked. (you can also shallow fry the burgers I prefer oven as it's a bit healthier) cook the eggs until the yolk is no longer soft. 

Step 4

Cut the muffins in half then toast and butter them, place a slice of cheese on the bottom of your muffin then place 1 or 2 sausages on top of the cheese slice then the egg and finally the top of the muffin. 



                                 Enjoy the taste of Mc donalds breakfast any time you want!
